Residency, Workshops, and “Flash Fashion”
SCRAPARTSMUSIC February 2-5, 2010

Percussion group ScrapArtsMusic wowed nearly 3,000 people in a week-long residency that included workshops, lectures, and performances for both students and the general public.


In addition, they were the inspiration for a Rutgers recycled art workshop (CD mobile featured center) as well as a recycled materials fashion show, hosted by the East Brunswick Library (State Theatre intern Alexandra Smith models some of the recycled outfits, including a “Gucci” dress). The ScrapArtsMusic residency program was made possible through the generous support of PSE&G and The William G. and Helen C. Hoffman Foundation.


Scientists Exploring the Arts

The Scientists Exploring the Arts (SEA) program is a unique partnership between the State Theatre and National Starch, LLC. SEA is a free program that is open to college Science majors that allows them to see a show and discover different art forms (dance, music, etc) and meet personnel from National Starch. These are pictures from a SEA night with ScrapArtsMusic, a percussion group from Canada. Patrons who attended the performances of One-Man Star Wars Trilogy enjoyed their time prior to each performance as more than 30 Star Wars characters—provided by 501st Legion and The Rebel Legion—gathered and roamed the State Theatre lobbies, taking pics, and making the “opening festivities” for our 4th annual winter festival, Hub City Carnivale, a memorable one.
