New Brunswick, NJ (July 23, 2010)—This September the State Theatre presents a month of musical performances starting with the 4th Annual Jersey Beatles Bash starring Glen Burtnik & Friends (9/18/10). Five days later, the State Theatre kicks off the New Jersey Blues and Jazz Festival with a performance by Sugar Blue (9/23/10); followed with performances by Eddie Palmieri Afro-Caribbean Jazz Septet (9/24/10); Maria Muldaur and her Red Hot Bluesianna Band (9/25/10); and jazz violinist Regina Carter in her new show “Reverse Thread” (9/26/10).
In October, The Merce Cunningham Dance Company makes a special stop in New Brunswick as part of its final world tour—the “Legacy Tour” (10/1/10). A little over a week later, 9-year-old piano prodigy Ethan Bortnick takes us through His Musical Time Machine, from Beethoven to The Beatles (10/10/10). Also coming in October, comedian Craig Ferguson, host of The Late Late Show (10/21/10); five performances of the new stage musical Curious George Live! (10/23-25/10); and cutting edge dance ensemble Pilobolus (10/28/10).Closing out the month is a Halloween day performance of Leo Lionni’s Swimmy, Frederick, & Inch by Inch(10/31/10), where kids are invited to wear their costumes to receive candy while also enjoying this enchanting theatrical experience.

Forever enshrined in the hearts of baby boomers for her hit song “Midnight at the Oasis,” folk-blues singer Maria Muldaur rocks the State Theatre’s Backstage Jazz Club with her Red Hot Bluesianna Band. Tickets range from $40-50.
Regina Carter’s “Reverse Thread”

Jazz violinist Regina Carter’s set combines a 11:30am buffet-style brunch and a 1pm performance for just one price. Carter’s performance closes the New Jersey Blues & Jazz Festival. Tickets are $75.
The Merce Cunningham Dance Company

Celebrating Merce Cunningham’s lifetime of artistic achievement, by reviving his artistic career. The performance will feature Nearly 90 2, a restaged version of Cunningham’s final work. Tickets range from $32-52.
